More examples of Mayor Hulsey acting inappropriately and without the support of City Council.
(We working to expand this section soon)
- 911 was called! The responsibility of setting Council meeting agendas had been transferred to new the City Administrator Joe Ashton, after Mayor Hulsey had been refusing to add Council Members’ items to the agendas (for which he was censured). The mayor was still trying to control the process on the afternoon of March 26, 2026. He reportedly tried to kick Ashton out of the room and lock himself with the secretary in her office. When Ashton declined to let Hulsey be involved, the mayor called the police.
- Blocking the project to build a bridge over the rail tracks on Avondale-Haslet (more to come)
- Interfering with the FM-156 expansion project (more to come)
- Hiring a legislative assistant (who contributed to his campaign) without the knowledge of Council
- Establishing a home rule committee, populated by his friends and supporters, without the knowledge of Council.
